Mrs Lynne Frewin is the assessment lead at Lakeside. She has been instrumental in introducing our new assessment package - SOLAR - to the school and ensuring all staff are fully conversant with its use. We are able to use SOLAR to track all our assessments and ensure we have robust data.
Lynne is an active member of SSMAG - the Special Schools Moderation and Assessment Group which is an Eastern region partnership. Through this group we have the opportunity for moderation to ensure the quality of our judgements and to ensure we are always well informed on all issues surrounding assessment. Our response to the latest government initiitives in assessments including the Rochford Review are made in agreement with SSMAG.
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES:
Our assessment procedures start with all pupils being baselined within 6 weeks of starting school using either WS P Steps or Early Years Steps. Parents are then invited to an Initial target setting meeting within 8 weeks. The EHCP outcomes will inform this meeting
Teachers will add text, photos or video evidence to Solar IEP targets at the rate of 1 per pupil per week.
Pupil Progress Meetings to be held 5 weeks prior to the Annual Review meeting. At these meetings annual targets, WS P Steps, EY Steps will be reviewed and new targets set including SALT, ISEC and RfL.
New targets will be added to Solar after each review meeting.
