The Handside Schools' Partnership consists of a Collaborative Agreement between three schools in the area: Lakeside School, Stanborough School and Applecroft School. The aims are to seek ways to work together for the benefit of our students and the local community.
A second HSP photo project in 2015. A selection of the photos taken will be used and made into notecards to be sold to raise funds for this year's joint charity Build Africa.
In the summer term students from the 3 schools worked together to plant a new garden for the residents at St Andrew's Care Home. It has now bloomed and is looking wondeful
Students from the three schools worked together over four days visitng 8 sites to explore both the 'Garden' and the 'City' aspects of the town. Looking for the contrasts betwen Man made and Natural areas. They worked under the direction of photographer Iain Green and throughly enjoyed their sessions. Sainsbury's are hosting a display of our photos from 11th November 2013.
Below are the photographs chosen for display at Sainsbury's . These form the basis of a calendar that we will be selling to support our joint charity Herts Action on Disability HAD.
Below are photos of the students taking these pictures.
Activities between the three schools continue to engage pupils of all ages. The joint school council have taken the lead on producing a poetry book, written by pupils from the Partnership. It was very successful and the proceeds were donated to Keech Cottage Hospice.
The school council also wanted a sporting activity and we have had two excellent events. The Young Sports Leaders from Stanborough and other local secondary schools ran another superb day for pupils with PMLD from Lakeside, Breakspeare and Amwell View schools. The Young Leaders were amazing – a real credit to their schools.
Stanborough and Lakeside students took part in the Kielder Challenge again – see here.
We had an excellent football tournament at Applecroft with mixed teams of pupils from the three schools. The weather could have been better but the day was excellent.
One Lakeside student has been able to benefit by joining her peers at Stanborough on their Hair and Beauty course run in their training salon.
Other pupils have really benefitted from joining the Mechanics course.
Lakeside has signed a Collaborative Agreement with Applecroft Primary school and Stanborough Secondary school – both now academies – to seek ways to work together for the benefit of our students and the local community. Left is the 'historic' signing ceremony!!
Part of the Collaborative Agreement was to have a joint governing committee to take a strategic view of the partnership's work and make sure it was driven forward. We have a very pro-active committee, committed to the ethos of the partnership. It meets regularly and at these meetings holds us, as heads, to account and suggests and supports new ideas for ways forward.

The pictures below show the making of the HSP mosaic. Children from the three schools worked together to make a mosaic for each school.
